Tenerife – 27/09/2017. More than a thousand runners will take part in the fifth edition of Tacoronte Wine Run -to be held on October 1st, all profits will be going to Asociación Española contra el Cáncer. Jesús Morales, vice president of the Cabildo and head of the Agriculture department, has underlined the fact that this event has achieved to link sport and preservation of our landscape, “which is of great potential as a tourist attraction”. Álvaro Dávila, mayor of Tacoronte, has highlighted that Wine Run will be the last of all activities planned for this year’s Fiestas del Cristo. “This sort of promotional activities will always be welcomed in Tacoronte, since the agrarian activity is crucial for the city, and, above all, all actions related to wine and to its surrounding culture”:
The race, willingly organized by citizens, has the support of Cabildo de Tenerife, Tacoronte City Hall and more than 40 companies. In previous editions other groups such as Asociación de Enfermos de Esclerosis Múltiple, Cruz Roja or la Fundación Casa Acogida de Tacoronte has received all profits. José Díaz Flores, director of Instituto Canario de Calidad Agroalimentaria, stressed the solidary character of this event, “that, together with Lanzarote Wine Run, are the most important races organized in the Canary Islands”.
The director of the Tenerife Wine Run, Enrique Acosta, has explained that this event consist of three races and a march. The first, 14,6 kilometres long, will start at 09:30 am from Viña Norte Winery. The seven kilometres event and the march will start on La Caridad chapel. A shorter race for underaged- 600 metres- will start on Santa Catalina Church. The race will tour around wineries, vineyards, as well as the Dos Cráteres hill, which is more than 9 millions years old: La Atalaya y Lomo Colorado. The finish line will be in Plaza del Cristo, and will turned into a party from 12:00 am with show cookings, wine, music, zumba masterclasses and a massage area for runners. The trophies will be given on than same spot.
